Tipton’s largest employers are Co-Mo Electric Cooperative, Tipton R-VI Schools, Kiowa Line Builders and the Tipton Correctional Center.
Moniteau County is a fine agricultural area with contrasting hills, bottoms and prairie lands. It is a heavy producer of wheat, corn, soybeans, oats and milo. Stock, dairy and poultry farming supply the area with a diversified income. Tipton is situated in the center of this great agriculture, dairying and livestock producing area.
